Skate Canada NL Sectional Championships
Held annually in November the Skate Canada NL Sectional Skating Championships are the qualifying events for the Skate Canada Challenge Event. The most prestigious competition of the season, this well attended highly publicized event attracts our most elite level athletes, parents and coaches. Sponsorship for this event is negotiated with Skate Canada only. The Skate Canada Challenge is an elimination event for the Canadian Figure Skating Championships (Novice, Junior and Senior skaters). Pre-Novice National Champions will be declared at a combined Challenge event in each discipline. These events are held in December. Senior skaters qualify through these events for the Canadian Figure Skating Championships.
NEW: For the purpose of competitive development, the following events will be added, STAR 4 Under 8 & Under 10, STAR 5 Under 8 & Under 10
2020-2021
Skate Canada has indicated that the Skate Canada Challenge event, to be held in November 2020, will consist only of Junior and Senior categories. We have verified that our Section does not have any athletes training to compete at Challenge at the Junior or Senior Level, therefore in keeping with our safety first priority and in compliance with current government Covid -19 restrictions surrounding provincial championships the 2021 SCNL Sectional Championships scheduled for November 2020 at the Mount Pearl Glacier has been cancelled.
2019-2020:
The 2020 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Sectional Championships were held at the Glacier, Mount Pearl, November 8/9, 2019.
