Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador strives to provide quality programs, seminars, competitions and support services to its 5000+ athletes, 33 clubs, five regions and hundreds of committed volunteers. The staff that support SCNL consists of an Executive Director, assistant and freelance technical experts. The majority of work is carried out by volunteers. Our valued volunteers contribute thousands of hours to provide skating programs which enable our athletes to realize their goals.

Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador is broken down into five regions, each with its own volunteer board. The majority of the clubs are also independently operated by volunteers. Skating programs are offered for both recreational and competitive skaters, as well as synchronized skating teams and special needs athletes. The majority of our athletes are comprised of recreational skaters who begin their skating careers in the CanSkate or CanPowerskate program which is delivered by Skate Canada Professional Coaches. Volunteers within Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador handle fundraising, organization of club activities, competition opportunities, evaluation, administration and management.

Somewhere between learning to walk and learning to ride a bicycle, many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians lace up a pair of skates and venture out onto the ice of a froze pond, a backyard rink, or their community arena. Skating is part of growing up. Skating is part of our Canadian heritage.

For many, learning to skate leads to goals of flying through the air while performing a triple loop jump, experiencing the thrill of a break away, or experiencing the serenity of gliding across a virtually silent ice surface. Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador helps its athletes achieve their goals.

Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador was founded in 1967 and is governed by Skate Canada.
